Canine Therapy – We come to you!
Consultations take place in the comfort and privacy of your own home. It is important to us to build a trusting relationship with you and your dog.
What a Treatment Involves – The Process
Initial Phone Consultation: During the initial phone consultation, we will be able to discuss your dog’s needs and answer any questions you may have. We may contact your Veterinarian to ensure the treatment is suitable and there are no contraindications to treatment.
First Appointment: At the beginning of each treatment, we will acquire any further information required regarding the dog’s medical history and will also observe and assess their gait, posture, and balance, as well as conduct a soft tissue analysis to detect any abnormalities.
For the remainder of the appointment, we treat your dog according to our findings and a combination of therapies may be utilised.
It’s important that your dog is comfortable during their sessions. We work on their terms and allow them to dictate the progression of the session/treatment.
We will also provide a customised home exercise program tailored to the needs of your dog.
Post Treatment: It is important for dogs to recover after their therapy session. They may experience both physical and emotional release. This may include being extra sleepy or active, drinking more water to aid in removal of toxins from the body and therefore more frequent changes in toileting behaviours.
We normally give you a call within 24 hours to check up and make sure your pup is feeling well.
Follow up Sessions: For our follow up sessions, we discuss with you how your dog has been since the previous session and any noted changes. We then conduct a physical assessment before conducting treatment. Our session will be based on these findings and the treatment plan will be amended if required.
Walk and Train – We Come to You
For our walk and train session we come to your home and either conduct the session from your home or transport you dog to a more suitable location.
What a Session Involves – The Process
Initial Phone Consultation: During the consultation, we will be able to discuss your dog’s needs and answer any questions you may have. Specific details may be required on the dog’s behaviour such as who handles the dog, what are the problems/issues (if any), previous methods used to deal with or manage the behaviour, your expectations, descriptions of behaviour including frequency, associated circumstances, contributing circumstances, development of the problem and predictability.
First Appointment: At the beginning of the session, we will acquire any further information required regarding the dog’s behavioural history and will also observe and assess the dog’s behaviour. This is necessary in order to provide a training plan that it is safe and effective for your dog. With your input, we will devise goals for training and develop a plan suited to your dog’s individual needs.
For the remainder of the session, we conduct the walk and train with your dog focusing on the issues identified. A combination of training methods may be utilised to attain the desired outcome.
We will also give you tools to help your dog in between walk and train sessions by providing you with a customised home training program tailored to the needs of your dog.
Post Walk/Train Session: Upon returning your dog home we ensure that the dog has adequately cooled down and that fresh water is available before our departure.
Follow up Sessions: These sessions will follow on from our initial consultation. We are continually assessing your dog and making modifications as required. You do not need to be home for the follow up sessions as we pick up, conduct the Walk and Train session, before dropping your dog home safely while you are at work. We will be sure to let you know how your dog performed during their Walk and Train session.
Treadmill Fitness – We come to you!
For our Treadmill session we come to your home, pick up your dog and transport them safely to our premises to conduct the session. Afterwards, we safety return your dog home.
What a Session Involves – The Process
Initial Phone Consultation: During our initial conversation, we will be able to discuss your dog’s needs and answer any questions you may have. Specific details will be required on their health, fitness and behaviour. We may contact your Veterinarian to ensure the treadmill is suitable and there are no contraindications.
First Appointment: At the beginning of the session, we will gather any further information required regarding the dog’s behavioural and medical history and will also observe and assess the dog’s gait, stance, sit, balance, flexibility, body awareness and range of movement, as well as conduct a soft tissue analysis to detect any abnormalities. This is necessary in order to provide a fitness or rehabilitation program that it is safe and effective for your dog. We will then discuss our findings with you, and with your input, devise goals for fitness and/or rehabilitation and develop a plan suited to your dog’s individual needs.
We transport your dog to our premises and conduct the treadmill session focusing on the desired outcomes. If your dog has never used a treadmill do not worry as we train your dog to use the treadmill. An initial appointment will take 60 minutes. After the treadmill session we cool down your dog and allow them a 10-minute Accell Mat session. This is beneficial in helping your dog recover from their treadmill session.
Post Treadmill Session: Upon returning your dog home we ensure that the dog has adequately cooled down and that fresh water is available before our departure.
Follow up Sessions: Our follow up sessions will continue on from our initial consultations. You do not need to be home for the follow up sessions as we pick up, conduct the treadmill session, before dropping your dog home safely while you are at work.
